“matect,” a product born from our upcycling project “Our Vision for the Future project,” has been awarded the “Social Products Award” at the “Social Products Award 2026.”
The Social Products Award is an award program organized by the Association for the Promotion of Social Products (APSP), which recognizes outstanding products and services that excel in both social impact and commercial viability.
This award recognized our upcycling efforts utilizing fabric that was destined for disposal, as well as our manufacturing process in collaboration with local employment support facilities.
An upcycling initiative that makes use of fabric “selvage”
matect is an upcycling project that repurposes the fabric “selvage” generated during the curtain manufacturing process. By connecting materials that would otherwise be discarded, we transform them into products with new value.。
Furthermore, we collaborate with local employment support facilities in the production process, prioritizing not only environmental considerations but also fostering connections with the local community.
These efforts have been recognized as contributing to the resolution of social issues, leading to this award.
Future Developments
Kazuma will continue to advance upcycling initiatives through matect by utilizing materials destined for disposal, while also promoting sustainable manufacturing in collaboration with local communities.
