Valuing the Irregularity and Individuality of Non-Uniform Materials: Creating Textiles That Live in Harmony with Nature
KURASIKU is a brand focused on developing new textiles from natural materials like cotton, linen, washi paper, bamboo, hemp, and pineapple—materials previously absent from the market. Our fundamental philosophy is “utilizing natural materials in their natural state.” Rather than artificially over-refining the inherent properties of the materials—such as breathability, moisture absorption, unique textures, and the subtle variations in color and feel—we prioritize bringing out their inherent irregularities and individuality as a form of beauty.

Zero Fabric Waste in Production. Commitment to Unique Manufacturing Schemes and Specifications.
Standard custom curtains require large fabric rolls to accommodate desired sizes, resulting in significant waste during cutting. To address this issue, KURASIKU focuses on manufacturing ready-made curtains that eliminate the need for cutting. Furthermore, we repurpose the fabric selvedges—typically discarded—as design elements. Portions with imperfections or flaws unsuitable for curtains are recycled into fabric goods. By breathing new life into every material, we achieve a waste-free, circular manufacturing process.

Choosing Not to Use Plastic Hooks. A Design That Allows You to Enjoy Characteristics Like Shrinkage as Part of the Charm.
Instead of commonly used plastic hooks, KURASIKU proposes a hanging style using original fabric cords. Natural textile materials shrink when washed and fade over time. However, rather than viewing these as flaws, we embrace them as character. The length of the fabric cords can be easily adjusted to change the drape, allowing for recovery. Even as your lifestyle changes, you can enjoy diverse uses beyond curtains—such as room dividers or privacy screens.

Fabric That Coexists with Nature: The Sense of Cultivating Rather Than Merely Using
Japan has long cherished the value of “living in harmony with nature.” It involves receiving the blessings bestowed by nature, avoiding excessive processing, and incorporating them into daily life in a sustainable manner. This mindset is deeply rooted in Japanese culture and the aesthetics of living, and it continues to breathe life into the craftsmanship of KURASIKU. Our focus is on creating textiles that naturally blend with the human mind and body, while considering health and the environment. By minimizing artificial intervention and drawing out nature’s inherent beauty, we aim to bring healing to daily life through textiles and remain a source that circulates beautiful energy.
